MAINTAIN YOUR REBREATHER

Taking care of your rebreather
A rebreather is a category III PPE (personal protective equipment). It allows you to breathe underwater. Your rebreather meets the EN 14 143: 2013 standard and in Europe (to be sold there) has been CE approved according to EU regulation 2016/425.
However, any modification, other than that proposed by M3S, may harm your health and safety. It also causes your rebreather to lose its CE approval.
Regularly maintaining your rebreather to keep it working properly is necessary. This involves rinsing, disinfecting, drying and good maintenance.
CLEANING YOUR REbreathER
Rinsing your rebreather
After diving, the entire rebreather must be rinsed. The breathing loop and counterlungs must be rinsed with clean water to remove condensation and residual saliva.
Disinfecting your rebreather
The rebreather being a warm and humid environment, it is favorable to the development of micro-organisms. It is therefore essential to regularly disinfect the breathing loop and the counterlungs.
The products used must not be harmful to the unit or to the diver’s health. You can find them in the shop.
Drying your rebreather
Whether it is a simple rinse or a complete disinfection, an attention on the importance of the drying quality.
The drying of the unit must be done in a well-ventilated area, avoid any potential water retention in each of the parts. M3S recommends to dry the gas line by hooking it using the snap.
The drying of the unit and its parts must not be done under the sun. The rays can damage the recycler, especially the electronics.
Maintaining your rebreather
This maintenance concerns for example the changing of cells, breathing tubes, checking of bottles or even cleaning and greasing of the DSV...
